FAQ
Before you enter the castle
The Wizard's Chamber is a 60-minute adventure escape room by Escape This, set in the candlelit sanctum of a castle’s Headmaster. Your team plays students sent to uncover the secret of an immortality elixir and destroy its formula before the Sorcerers of the Dark Side break in. It plays at Escape This Perth CBD and Sydney CBD, and a Brisbane CBD castle is set to open in the first half of 2027.
They are the villains of The Wizard's Chamber: dark magicians hunting for immortality by any means, so they can use their powers unchecked in the magic realm and the ordinary world alike. While your class searches the Headmaster’s sanctum, they are massing at the castle walls.
No. The Wizard's Chamber has an original story and isn’t licensed from any book or film, so nobody needs to know a famous boy wizard’s spells to escape. Fans of Harry Potter, Gandalf, Merlin or Hocus Pocus still find plenty to love among the castle maps, potions and candlelight.
It already does in one place: Escape This describes Magic School, at its Manly venue, as the sequel to The Wizard's Chamber, and Magic University in Melbourne shares the same world. Escape This’s Coming Soon page also lists a further Wizard's Chamber sequel in production, with no title, venue or date yet.

Yes. The Wizard's Chamber is rated 6 out of 10, a level Escape This aims at newcomers and switched-on kids. What you need is usually in front of you, from numbers to patterns to places where something obviously belongs. The challenge is linking it together, and the gamesmasters send extra clues whenever you ask.
The castle walls hold for 60 minutes once the door of The Wizard's Chamber closes. Add 15 minutes beforehand for the briefing and about 15 afterwards to recover, and the whole visit takes around an hour and a half, less if your class escapes early.
Not in the way a horror room is. The Wizard's Chamber is a candlelit adventure with an ominous story, sound effects and moody lighting, but no monsters lunging from corners. Like every Escape This room, the lights can dip into darkness or flash, so mention any worries at check-in.
Often, says the Escape This team, who have noticed that children tend to outshine the grown-ups in The Wizard's Chamber. Young players spot patterns and hiding places quickly, so treat them as full members of the class rather than passengers.
In Perth CBD, The Wizard's Chamber is $49 per adult and $39 per child Monday to Thursday, rising to $59 and $49 Friday to Sunday. In Sydney CBD it is $55 and $45 Monday to Thursday, $65 and $55 Friday to Sunday. Children are under 16; public and school holidays are priced separately.

A comic, fictional diary on this site, written in character by Wendell, a made-up Sorcerer of the Dark Side who has spent years outside the castle walls of The Wizard's Chamber. He grumbles about the Headmaster, the students and the house rules, and every note sits beside the real room facts.
